👷🏻‍♀️ Public tasks

Q: What are the Public tasks?

A: Public Tasks 2024 are the opportunity for Rumberos to collaborate with CDLR BEFORE getting to the Burn. Producing a camp as CDLR currently requires uncountable hours of planning, preparation and work. We want EVERYONE that comes camp with us to be part of making CDLR what it is by helping during the preparation phase. Lending a hand to the camp prior to Burning Man helps everyone feel part of it. Additionally, any work that you do before the burn will be taken into consideration for work shifts during the event.

Q: Does every Rumbero have to take on a Public task before the Burn?

A: Ideally yes. Everyone coming to CDLR should really try to work a public task before the Burn. If you are new to CDLR and don’t know what to do, ask your sponsor to help you out. Taking on a public task will help everyone not only helping the camp but feeling part of what we will build on the Playa.

Q: I do not live in San Francisco or even the US, should I still help with a Public task?

A: Yes. There are many tasks that don’t require physical presence and can be done online. Others may need from a day in the US to do the task so you can plan accordingly and do them if you arrive a day or two before the burn (i.e. do groceries in Costco or Bevmo, meet someone from FB marketplace in SF, …). Please, check out the task list and consider where you could help.

Q: What ice does the camp provide? How can I use it?

A: CDLR will provide Rumberos with daily ice. You can use the large cooler in the “comedor” to grab ice to cool down your drink or leave your clean cans in the cooler.

<aside> ⚠️ You cannot leave food in the cooler nor take ice for your personal cooler.

Q: Does the camp provide water? Should I bring some?

A: CDLR will provide drinking and cooking water for rumberos. You should only brink 2 gallons of water per person as emergency in the case the water delivery doesn’t get on time plus the water you think you will need for showering (if baby wipes are not fancy enough for you).

Q: How should I use the camp shower?

A: You are responsible from bringing in and taking out the shower water you may want to use. You should not use more than 1 gallon of water per shower, and you should pump out the wastewater into the same bottle you used to fill the shower and take it to the default world with you.
